7 Highly Effective Habits For the Wedding Planning Process

Without proper planning and communication, you could easily find yourself stuck spending more than you wanted to, not to mention frazzled. Make these 7 Effective Habits part of your Wedding Planning Process and the outcome is sure to be exactly what you wanted your wedding day to be!

1. Don’t Procrastinate

We certainly can’t stress this morsel of wisdom enough. You’ll enjoy your wedding far more if you’re not cramming everything into the last two months. It’s a tad bit difficult to write romantic wedding vows when you’ve waited until the night before the wedding to put pen to paper.

2. Find the right Wedding Planning Guide Book

Being organized is key, not only to getting things done but to saving money, and there is just too many parts to the planning of a wedding that it wouldn’t be smart or cost effective to try to think of all the the various details you need to handle by yourself. I highly recommend finding a Wedding Planning Guide Book to walk you through this. These guides cover everything that needs to be planned and organized including timelines and budgets and they help you with ways to find the best deals! There are many good guides out there, just do your research to find the one that best fits your particular needs.

3. Schedule Planning Time

Be sure to schedule meeting times with each other to discuss the details of the wedding: the schedule, the budget, the vendors, etc. Be diligent about keeping these appointments with each other. This is the beginning of another important marriage building skill-shared decision-making.

4. Communicate & Compromise

You’ll definitely have the opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the delicate arts of communication and compromise. You’re designing a wedding that suits the two of you, while taking into account the needs of your families and guests. Through this process of planning and compromise you will learn new ways of communicating with each other, as well as discover areas where it is difficult for you to express yourselves.

Establish a daily ritual to discuss your feelings and share your thoughts. Even if you only have time for a five-minute chat. It is the consistency, not the quantity of conversation that counts.

5. Share the Tasks & Delegate

Long gone are the days when the groom took a back seat and let his rosy-cheeked bride make all the decisions. Welcome to the 21st century. Couples are now splitting the list in half. Brides rejoice! Two people dividing the lengthy task list will not only reduce stress for you, it allows the groom, traditionally the most ignored person in the entire affair, to participate in his own wedding. A novel concept, we know.

Above and beyond the professional help you hire, create a wedding support network for yourself. Make a list with your fiancé of the various friends and family who might want to be involved with your wedding. Give each of them a task, stated as clearly and specifically as possible. Call them regularly to give them your appreciation and to check on how their project is coming along.

6. Be Assertive

Communicate your wishes clearly and tactfully to wedding professionals, friends and family members. Practice saying “no” and using phrases like, “we have discussed this and we feel that” It’s your wedding and don’t you forget it.

7. Take Care of Yourself

Pay attention to the essentials of good health. Avoid caffeine, sugar, alcohol and nicotine, which put unnecessary strain on both body and mind. Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains and fish. Get a full night’s sleep to revitalize. Dreaming releases the accumulated stress of the day and stabilizes the brain waves. Exercise is the best source of stress reduction known to man. The endorphins released in even a moderate amount of aerobic exercise can fight depression and elevate the mood.

Work at making these 7 Effective Habits part of your Wedding Planning Process and you will be pleasantly surprised how much it helps the whole progression!

Social Media and Wedding Planning Ideas

The web is creating smaller and smaller worlds via social media and event planning companies. I met Noa Gafni of Webutantes by an article someone mentioned on either Twitter or Linkedin. I can’t remember it’s getting so confusing. Anyway, the article was about wedding planning ideas.

In particular, this article was a mini- wedding planning guide and provided wedding planning ideas and resources. What caught my eye though was the resource discussion because they were listed for people who are on a budget and cannot afford wedding coordinators.

I then used my acquired internet skills and tracked Noa down for the pitch. She loved the idea of budgets but instead of adding to the already mentioned wedding planning ideas she posted, she requested an article on how to throw a cocktail party on a budget. That topic was right up my alley and I sent her information that included advice and links for invitations, music and food. I even included a menu that was easy-to-make. Many of the helpful tips I used in the article are based upon my experience working for other event planning companies as well as my own.

A funny note here, I thought my internet skills were pretty up-to-date but paled in comparison to Noa’s. She edited my article and listed links to music and invitation websites that were more current. Then again, I am still learning this medium; she is well-versed and experienced in social media.

The menu I provided got me to venture out beyond my known sources since the recipes were from various sites. These recipes are great easy-to-make appetizers such as red-salmon dip, mushroom rolls, sun dried tomato and olive tapenade bruschetta. I also provided some new recipes too. The honey lemon chicken skewers with vegetables and the mini-peppermint cheesecakes with chocolate chips were two new recipes I researched for the article. What I liked about these two hors d’oeuvres were that they fit right into my mantra – make it simple, fast and delicious.

Again, it all comes down to the internet and event planning companies and how we are all connected via the web. Until next time, remember to make it simple fun and delicious and be a guest at your own event!

Wedding Planning: A Guide to Help You Create Your Best Wedding Ever

Surely, getting married is something huge to consider and prepare. Every couple along with their family will definitely have extra hectic time a couple of months before the D day. A careful and thorough wedding planning is absolutely needed to help you getting everything done in a perfect way. As we all acknowledge, a marriage brings too much excitement, nervousness as well as too many things to consider, prepare, and plan to both would-be bride and bridegroom and their big family.

The following wedding planning guide could be one of your references in helping you to prepare and plan your wedding ceremony and reception perfectly.

1. Have a conversation with your spouse about the budget
A realistic number on the cost of every single expense for your extra special day is very crucial. Such a figure will help you to manage and make do with the budget; this will help you not to overspend and avoid excessive pressure on you.

2. Do the Booking
Once you have decided the budget, you can start to look for the best venue you wish your special day to hold. Since finding the right place for your wedding is pretty hard to get considering there are countless numbers of other couples who are doing the same thing with you, it is better for you to book the place immediately and put a deposit down after determining the best one.

Remember that you should also book the reception area. In this case, you will likely have to plan for your actual reception and how to host the reception as you wish. In fact, you can simply have a small gathering for the whole family and close friends at home to cut the cost down. Once this booking place is settled, you have to move to the next thing.

3. Determine the theme and color scheme for your special day

4. Determine the guests
Both of you have to determine people you are about to invite to come to your party. Usually, people you know for certain period of time, those who mean a lot to you, those who care for you, even if you have just known them for a while and of course, relatives and friends are people you will likely want to have on your wedding party.

5. Invitation
This issue will have a close relationship to the theme and color scheme of your special day. In fact, your invitation should match perfectly to your pre-determined theme and color scheme. The best time to send your invitation would be about two months before the D day.

The above wedding planning guide will help you to manage your extra special day perfectly and finish up your decoration and other minor things. Have a great moment!
